A downy woodpecker has been quite active today rushing from the spruce trees back to the feeder. He seems a bit embarassed about not finding enough insects beneath the bark! Sunflower seeds just dont compare in flavor to grubs!
The usual rush of red polls is evident. There is one lone house sparrow that seems to be part of the red poll flock. Neither the sparrow nor the red polls act as if there is anything special about that. Maybe humans can learn from the birds.
The chickadees are still to be seen every day. They refuse to relax at the feeder and rush off to whatever they must do.
