Finally a downy woodpecker

For several weeks I have seen not a single woodpecker at the feeder but today there was one downy that visited several times before disappearing. My son heard him from his bedroom earlier. He was pecking either on or close to the house.

There are many red polls visiting. They have visited all day off and on, also eating seeds on the ground and hopping across the snow. A few chickadees are around again as well. Only house sparrows seem absent, a rare event in itself!
